Description
Les Bermonts is a single-parcel Blanc de Blancs from a plot of Chardonnay planted in 1952 in Ambonnay Grand Cru. Beige clay and limestone soils sit over chalk at just 75cm depth, giving the wine a fuller, rounder style than Marguet’s other Chardonnay lieux-dits. Farmed biodynamically, the wine is fermented and aged for over nine months in barrels of varying sizes using indigenous yeasts, then rests further on lees before disgorgement, with minimal sulphur and no dosage. The wine shows brioche, ripe peach and apple, framed by chalky minerality and a saline edge. Concentrated and mature in style, the palate is broader and more textural than the estate’s leaner cuvées, carrying real weight without losing precision, and finishing long and saline.Berry Bros. & Rudd
