Description
Au Closeau, located in the southern end of Gevrey, across from Mazis-Chambertin, is rarely seen – because 80% of it belongs to Drouhin-Laroze. The estate’s 0.44-hectare plot was planted in 1943. There is generous red and black fruit here, accompanied by the wild, herbal and spicy notes one often finds in Mazis. Philippe Drouhin always picks up a particular type of mint-flavoured liquorice sweet called Zan. This is a characterful wine that deserves more recognition.Adam Bruntlett, Senior Buyer, Berry Bros. & Rudd
